The lamp where it all began. Created in 2018, TS-0001 was my first steam bent wooden table lamp and the prototype that planted the seeds for the contemporary lighting designs that would become the Ashurst Collection. Not for sale, but an important part of the Totally Steamed story.
Ash Steam Bent Table Lamp TS-0001
Description
My prototype lamp — this is where it all started. Perhaps a little rough around the edges and definitely not the finished product, but you have to start somewhere!
TS-0001 is not for sale, but it represents an important part of the Totally Steamed story. Created in 2018, this first design planted the seeds for a contemporary style of steam bent wooden lighting that has continued to evolve ever since.
Although I didn’t realise it at the time, this lamp was also the beginning of what would eventually become the Ashurst Collection.
From this starting point, Totally Steamed has continued to develop, along with the five collections that now define my work: Ashurst, contemporary lighting with clean lines and refined forms; Nuthurst, celebrating live edge timber, natural character and organic form; Maplehurst, sculptural pieces where steam bending takes centre stage; Wakehurst, pieces created from remarkable timber with a known provenance and a connection to the landscape from which it came; and Brockhurst, functional wooden pieces thoughtfully created for everyday use.
