Wakehurst Swan Neck Table Lamp TS-0135

Part of the Wakehurst Collection, this handcrafted table lamp combines a steam-bent Ash Swan Neck stem with a base made from timber with a unique connection to Wakehurst.

The base is made from timber grown, felled and planked at Wakehurst before being used as an interpretation board within the grounds. When the boards were no longer required for their original purpose, usable sections of the timber were carefully selected and given a new life as part of a range of lamps commissioned for the library at Wakehurst Mansion.

The flowing Swan Neck stem is steam bent from locally sourced Ash selected from my own timber stock, creating the distinctive curved form of this design while making use of the natural flexibility of solid wood.

A limited number of lamps made using the remaining Wakehurst timber are available through Totally Steamed, each retaining a tangible part of the timber’s history and connection to the estate.

Handmade in my Sussex workshop using locally sourced and repurposed British timber.

The lamp is fitted with a brass E27 lamp holder, black vintage-style braided cable, an inline on/off switch and a UK three-pin plug fitted with a 3 amp fuse, ready to plug directly into a standard 240V mains socket.

A Calex filament-style LED E27 bulb is included to complement the design, although the lamp is compatible with any standard E27 LED bulb, allowing you to personalise both the appearance and light output to suit your home.
